The War Within

The world around is made to seem dark and foreboding. Those that would be our eternal lords and masters’ desire one emotion from us – fear. In the coming storm we can control only one thing – our own minds

We cannot remake others in our own image. We must look at the ties that hold us together and not the perceived differences that keep us apart. Only ties made of love will hold true.

To steal a quote from Bobby Sands;
"They have nothing in their whole imperial arsenal that can break the spirit of anyone who doesn't want to be broken".

  1. What a great message from you and from the video, Chuck.

    Bobby Sands is right

  2. I appreciate that James.

    I could write about the myriad of woe and pain all around us but if anyone is reading here they know the story on that – chapter and verse.

    We need the skills to traverse this period.

    Bobby has been a fulcrum in my life from an early age. He was a humble man and an honest but less than exemplary revolutionary. He did his part in the struggle for freedom to the best of his abilities.

    It was after his incarceration that fate placed him in a terrible position. He assumed a leadership and he rose to encompass that with an inner light that shines to this day. What a burden to carry.

    There is a hunger strike going on at this very moment in the prisons of California. That is a resonance with me and my inner soul. What can drive any man to that ultimate protest? I may write on it further.

  3. I read the article, Chuckyman. I am appalled but not surprised. It is the result of a society that has the notion of 'punishment' as one of it's corner stones. A notion we have inherited from Judaism.

    Someone famous (don't ask me who now!) said you can judge a society by the way it treats its prisoners.
    There is much more I could say but i don't have the words at the moment. So I hope you do write more.

    Oddly, I had the film "Hunger" out from my local library recently but then couldn't bring myself to watch it. Maybe I'll have a second try.
